Tolman was given a two episode guest role as romance writer Abby Berman on The Mindy Program the same year. In 2015, Tolman had an supporting role in Michael Dougherty's comedy film Krampus. Tolman was a star who made an iconic performance in Fargo, declined the roles of mothers, wives and close friends to focus on the role she thought was distinctive. Tolman was a part of ABC's Downward Dog based off the Animal Media Group webseries. The series ended in the middle of a year. Tolman appeared in ABC's Emergence drama which premiered on September 24, 2019, but was cancelled by ABC following one year of airing on 21 May 2020, even though Tolman posting on Twitter that the show's ratings were "pretty acceptable".
